The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has described the Bodo-Bonny Road Project as a testament to leadership, continuity, partnership, and peace.
Goronyo said this while receiving the Medallion Award on behalf of President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi and himself at a Ceremony in Abuja, on Friday.
The event was organised by the Bodo-Bony Road Peace Committee of Rivers State.
According to the minister, “ I am deeply honoured to stand before you at this Medallion Award Ceremony, marking the realization of a dream once thought distant.
“The Bodo-Bonny Road Project is not merely an engineering feat-it is a testament to leadership, continuity, partnership, and peace.
“This road is more than a physical link; it is a bridge to opportunity, a lifeline for commerce, and a symbol of national cohesion. It connects coastal communities to the mainland, reduces insecurity, and opens doors for prosperity across the Niger Delta.
“The road, now open to traffic, is a legacy project under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at enhancing national connectivity.”
Goronyo commended Tinubu for prioritizing the project, and Sen. Engr. David Umahi for his technical oversight. He also acknowledged Julius Berger Nigeria for delivering the project to global standards.
The minister praised Nigeria LNG Limited for partnering with the government through the tax credit scheme, and the Bodo-Bonny Road & Bridges Peace Committee for creating a conducive environment for the project.
He also acknowledged the pioneering efforts of former Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola who laid the foundation for the project upon which the Tinubu administration built.
The road is expected to boost commerce, reduce insecurity, and promote prosperity in the Niger Delta region.
Goronyo stated that the administration remains committed to strengthening national connectivity through quality road infrastructure, inspiring the team to build faster, deliver better, and extend connectivity to every corner of Nigeria.
Earlier, in his remarks, Chairman of the award ceremony sub-committee, Chief Jasper Jumbo said, “Today is not just another ceremonial gathering. The Bodo-Bonny Road and Bridges Project stands today as a landmark achievement-a testament to what can be accomplished when government, communities, and the private sector stakeholders unite behind a shared vision.
“Through tireless engagement, mediation and community coordination our peace committee ensured an enabling environment for the successful execution of the project.”
