An Abuja High Court on Monday adjourned the arraignment of the Chief Executive Officer of EFAB Properties Limited, Fabian Nwaora, following his absence in court.
Nwaora is to be arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on alleged forgery filed by the Inspector-General of Police.
At the proceedings, prosecution counsel, Wisdom Madaki, told the court that the defendant had been duly served with the charge, expressing surprise that he failed to appear for his arraignment.
However, defence counsel, Ezekiel Egbo, informed the court that his client could not attend because he had travelled out of town before the court processes were served on his secretary.
Following the development, the prosecution applied for an adjournment to enable the arraignment to take place.
The presiding judge, Justice Aliyu Shafa, granted the request and adjourned the matter until April 22 for arraignment.
In the charge marked FHC/HC/CR/748/2025, the police alleged that the defendant forged an international passport, number A01646675, in the name of Kenneth Chinedu Ogbogu, purportedly issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service on or about April 5, 2024.
The prosecution further alleged that he presented the passport as genuine and altered a certificate of incorporation belonging to Ke Keneco Investment Ltd, with registration number 619680, allegedly signed by A. Almustapha, Registrar-General.
He is also accused of forging a company letterhead and a National Identification Number , NIN purportedly issued by the National Identity Management Commission.
The offences, according to the police, contravene Sections 362, 364 and 366 of the Penal Code and are punishable under the law.
