The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has condemned the recent surge in attacks by insurgents on military formations and personnel across Northern Nigeria.

In a statement, the Foundation’s Director-General, Abubakar Gambo Umar, described the attacks by Boko Haram and other militant groups as “cowardly” and a direct assault on Nigeria’s sovereignty and security.

Umar expressed solidarity with the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies confronting insurgency and violent extremism. “The recent attacks targeting military formations, officers, and soldiers who are bravely defending the nation are deeply troubling and deserve the strongest condemnation,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to support the military and security agencies both morally and materially to enhance their capacity to combat insurgency, emphasizing the need for improved logistics, funding, and welfare provisions for troops.

The Foundation also called on citizens to pray for the safety and success of security personnel, particularly during the ongoing holy month, and condemned informants and collaborators who aid terrorist groups.

Umar urged communities nationwide to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence and rejecting any support for extremist or criminal elements.

Reaffirming its commitment to national stability, the Foundation highlighted its ongoing efforts to promote peace, education, youth development, and sustainable progress across Northern Nigeria and the country as a whole.
