BENIN CITY — The Ukhomunyio Council of Village Heads in Afokpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, has distanced itself from a purported petition reportedly sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the Okuokpelagbe of Okpella, HRM Michael Sado.

The village heads said they did not author or endorse any such petition, urging the public to disregard it.

At an enlarged emergency meeting convened by the most senior village head, Chief Joseph Omoake, community leaders stated that the council was unaware of the petition prior to media reports.

They emphasised the need for unity and focus on development within the community, noting that current priorities should centre on improving infrastructure and overall welfare.

Those present at the meeting included Chief Peter Afiabor, Chief Lawrence Adejumoh, Chief Segun Balogun, Chief Michael Bello, Chief Okumagbe Ogene, and Chief Matthew Okpetu, among others.

Speaking with journalists in Benin City, the Okuokpelagbe, HRM Michael Sado, said he remains committed to advancing development initiatives in the community and will not be distracted.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including plans for educational support facilities, enhanced security measures, and judicial infrastructure within the area.

According to him, his administration is focused on providing basic amenities and improving living standards for residents, adding that development projects currently underway are aimed at addressing longstanding gaps in the community.
