The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, has commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State for what he described as a remarkable transformation in healthcare delivery and infrastructure across the state, pledging the Society’s full support for the administration’s initiatives.
Speaking on arrival in Yola for the 2026 PSN Colloquium, Ibrahim said the scale of development under Fintiri’s leadership reflects “visionary governance and purposeful leadership,” noting that ongoing projects have significantly improved both the physical landscape and health sector performance of the state.
“I sincerely commend the Governor for his foresight in ensuring economic growth through infrastructural excellence,” he said, adding that the quality and spread of projects have transformed Yola into “a city with a difference,” where modern infrastructure aligns with a functional healthcare system.
The PSN president particularly lauded the administration’s investment in medical infrastructure and the pharmaceutical value chain, stressing that such efforts are critical to strengthening Nigeria’s health system and ensuring access to safe and quality medicines.
Corroborating this position, a past president of the Society, Pharm. Olumide Akintayo, said any leader who prioritises healthcare demonstrates a deep commitment to the wellbeing of the people. According to him, a strong pharmaceutical sector remains fundamental to a functional healthcare system, describing Fintiri as a “pro-pharmaceutical” leader.
Also speaking, immediate past president of the Society, Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh, attributed the successful hosting of the colloquium to the enabling environment created by the state government. He noted that the gathering of professionals in Yola underscores the growing confidence in Adamawa’s capacity to host high-level scientific and professional engagements.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Pharmaceutical Matters, Pharm. Nwaka Ohuama, said ongoing reforms in the health sector are aimed at positioning Adamawa as a sub-Saharan hub for medical tourism.
“We are not just treating patients; we are building a global healthcare brand,” he said, adding that the reforms reflect the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises to the people.
Responding, Governor Fintiri assured the delegation of the state government’s readiness to partner with the PSN to ensure a successful and world-class colloquium, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare access and infrastructure.
The PSN leadership, in turn, pledged its continued support for policies and programmes aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the state, expressing optimism that the ongoing reforms would further enhance growth and development in Adamawa.
