Warriors commiting the game unto God in prayers.
By Collins Elemuo
A pulsating football encounter between the Vanguard Football Club, Kirikiri Warriors and the Sky White Angels of Igdede road, Ajangbadi, Lagos, at the weekend, ended in a victory for the Warriors.
Although the referee shockingly disallowed a beautiful 3rd goal scored by the Warriors, they still emphatically thumped their hosts 1-2 to snatch an away victory that became the Sky White’s first home loss in the popular Ikenna Stadium, in many years.
The first half of the match started with the two teams approaaching the game cautiously and rarely threatened each other.
But a second half tactical formation tweak by Coach Prince Osuagwu, saw the Warriors break the deadlock in 10 minutes through their towering striker, Louis Patrick.
The prolific striker recieved a through ball from the right back, John Ryma and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
The hosts replied 5 minutes later, with a beautiful goal from their experienced striker, Peter John
However, the equaliser was only to awaken the lion in the Warriors as the team kept their hosts on their back foot until Louis scored his brace in the 30th minute of the second half.
The pressure and the goal silenced the home fans who filled the 300-capacity stadium singing and chanting to the past heroics of the Sky White Angels.
The stadium literally went dead when at the nick of the 90th minute, the Warriors hit the roof of the net again with a header from Warriors’ right winger, Dozie Patrick, before the referee surprisingly canceled the goal, ignoring the linesman who had pointed to the centre spot.
With the win, the warriors continues their unbeaten run from last year when they blew several teams away in both home and away encounters.
