The former British and the Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, Peter Idemudia Oboh, has expressed sadness, and sent condolences to the family of Rev. Jesse Jackson, who just passed away aged 84 in the United States of America, USA.
Peter Oboh said: “To be realistic late, Rev. Jesse Jackson is one of the few real civil rights leaders we ever had in our generation. There is one great truth in life, which is that, believe it or not, sometimes you may have to work with sound leaders to be able to later evolve into one yourself.
“The gospel truth is that late Rev. Jesse Jackson rose to prominence in the 1960s as a protégé of the late civil rights leader Rev Martin Luther King jr. One thing I wonder is how come the majority of the good America civil rights activists in the United States died via two major ways. One, is through assassination – Rev. Martin Luther King in 1968, and Charlie Kirk late last year. But President Donald Trump is still seen as one of the lucky ones to escape it. Another is Parkinson disease.
“One question that may never be answered is how come the great Mohammad Ali, a civil rights activist had parkinson and died some years later. But Ali’s doctor always held his ground that the sickness was not boxing related. Tellingly, Rev. Jackson was never a boxing great, but had the same kind of sickness and died years later. He was a great civil rights activist like the great Mohammad Ali.
“The truth is that the world will always remember Rev. Jesse Jackson for his many involvement in fight for the weak and voiceless. He was really a supperman. Late Rev Jackson will highly be miss by many across the world.”
