Hundreds of young Nigerians filled The Master’s Place International Church to capacity as Pastor Korede Komaiya delivered a pointed message on mentorship, igniting conversations among Generation Z about leadership and business growth.

The programme, which recorded overflow attendance, has since gained traction online, with clips of the sermon circulating widely across social media platforms.

Speaking to the packed congregation, Komaiya described mentorship as the foundation for effective leadership. He emphasised that young people must prioritise discipline, structured learning and accountability if they are to succeed in business and public life.

“Mentorship with accountability is required if you must become a young leader,” he said. “Those who learn early will grow early. The discipline of training will rescue you from the regret of the future.”

The pastor cautioned against seeking mentors who merely offer comfort instead of correction. According to him, growth requires honest feedback and the willingness to accept hard truths.

“You need a mentor who will look you in the face and tell you the truth — that you are wrong,” he said, drawing loud applause.

He also warned against arrogance among emerging leaders, noting that some become resistant to advice once they attain success. Komaiya disclosed that he still receives counsel, stressing that mentorship is a lifelong necessity.

The message resonated strongly with young attendees, many of whom described it as timely and practical. While supporters commended the emphasis on discipline and accountability, some online commentators argued that mentorship must also encourage creativity and independence.

Despite differing opinions, the large turnout and viral reactions highlight a growing interest among young Nigerians in structured guidance for business and leadership development.
