They say time heals, but it doesn’t. It only teaches us how to carry the weight. My heart still aches, yet it overflows with the love you left behind.
Today marks one year since you passed on, and we pause to honour and remember you—Dr. Olusoga Adedoyin Atibioke Sofolahan—a visionary, a leader, and a pillar of support to all who knew you.
You were a man of deep compassion and unwavering integrity. Your life was defined by service to others. As Late Olori Omoba Olusoga Sofolahan, you dedicated yourself wholeheartedly to uplifting your community and your country. Your leadership was never just a title; it was a sacrifice—a truth you often emphasized—and this principle guided everything you did, inspiring countless lives.
Your journey of service was broad and impactful. As Nigeria’s Scout Head and Chief Commissioner of Scouts, you transformed the organisation with passion and purpose. Under your leadership, membership grew from 223,000 in 2013 to an extraordinary 750,000 by 2025. These numbers represented more than growth; they reflected your ability to inspire, empower, and nurture a new generation of leaders who will carry your legacy forward. Your commitment to fairness and justice made you a trusted guide and a beloved figure.
Beyond scouting, your dedication extended into your professional life, where you distinguished yourself at ExxonMobil Oil Producing Company and Seplat Energy. You were respected for your professionalism, diligence, and integrity. Yet, what truly defined you was your generosity of spirit—your willingness to give your time, wisdom, and resources, always placing the needs of others above your own.
I vividly remember a conversation we shared during my university days—one that has stayed with me through the years. We spoke about death, and you said that a man who has not prepared his family for death has failed in life. You described death as a deep sleep, a natural part of life’s journey. Though you left us too soon, I believe you fulfilled the mission you were meant to complete. I hold on to the hope that your journey continues beyond this life, and that heaven is as beautiful as the life you lived here.
Your legacy is not found only in the titles you held or the honours you received, but in the countless lives you touched through your kindness, generosity, and love. Those you helped carry your spirit forward, living out the values you instilled in them. Your memory remains a guiding light through both sorrow and joy.
Rest in peace, Dad. You are deeply missed and forever cherished. Today, as we celebrate your life, we remember you with smiles through tears, holding tightly to the love and lessons you left behind. Your story is etched in our hearts—a timeless reminder that true leadership is sacrifice for the good of others, a truth you lived every single day.
In loving memory of Late Olori Omoba Olusoga Sofolahan.
February 2, 2026.
Your legacy continues, and your spirit remains with us always.
Fondly remembered by the Sofolahan Family.
