A motorcycle operator, suspected to be a serial rapist and armed robber, Olamipekun Elegbeleye has been arrested by police detectives in Ondo state.
Police source said that the suspect under the pretence of conveying her victims to their destination, divert the motor bike into nearby busy where he sexually assaulted the victim at gunpoint and dispossessed her of her valuables.
The suspect, according to police source has raped five women before he was apprehended.
Vanguard gathered that he was arrested after pretending to convey a lady to Afunbiowo Housing Estate, Oke Aro.
The suspect reportedly diverted into a nearby bush, raped her at gunpoint and dispossessed her of her valuables.
Police spokesperson for the command DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the arrest of the suspected serial rapist and suspected armed robber.
Abayomi said that the suspect lured his unsuspecting female victim onto his TVS motorcycle under the pretence of conveying them to their destination but ended rapidly g them at gunpoint and stealing their belongings.
According to him investigation revealed that the suspect had, in a similar manner and at the same location, allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed four other female victims.
The police image maker said that ” Acting on credible intelligence and technical tracking, operatives of the Command apprehended the suspect at his hideout.
“Items recovered from him include two SIM cards, two iPhones, a shirt, and Opay and Moniepoint ATM cards, all believed to be properties of his victims. Investigation further established that the suspect unlawfully transferred money from the victim’s bank account to another bank account.
The suspect confessed to the crime and charged to court, and has been remanded at the Ondo State Correctional Centre, Akure.
Abayomi reiterated “the Command’s resolve to ensure the safety of lives and property in the State and assures the good people of Ondo State that perpetrators of violent and sexual crimes will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
