Curvaceous Nollywood actress and producer Evia Simon has shared her views on love and Valentine’s Day, stating that the annual celebration should extend beyond romantic relationships.
Speaking in a special Valentine’s Day feature with Potpourri, the actress emphasized that love is best expressed through kindness, acceptance and consistent support.
According to Simon, true love involves accepting a partner completely, including their flaws, while offering trust, respect and unwavering care. She described love as a conscious decision people make daily to prioritize each other’s happiness and emotional well-being, noting that genuine affection is reflected more in actions than words.
Reflecting on her personal Valentine’s Day experiences, the actress revealed that her most memorable gift was a simple yet meaningful one — chocolates and perfume she received several years ago. She explained that although the gifts were not extravagant, the emotional significance and the fact that it was her first Valentine’s gift made the moment special.
Simon further stressed that she does not see Valentine’s Day as a celebration meant solely for couples. Over the years, she has marked the occasion by spreading love through charitable acts, including distributing food to people on the streets of Abuja and organizing online cash giveaways to support those in need.
Speaking on her ideal Valentine’s Day, the filmmaker said she envisions a romantic getaway in Paris with her partner while continuing her tradition of giving back to society. She noted that combining romance with acts of kindness and support for others represents her true understanding of love and the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
