The Olore in council, in Odigbo council area of Ondo state, has insisted on the selection of a substantive traditional ruler and rejected the appointment of a regent by the state government.
They equally confirmed that “Chief Tope Ijiniga is a bonafide and qualified Chief in Ore Kingdom, and a rightful member of Olore In Council.
The Olore in council comprises, the High Chief (the Iwarefa), the Olojas
Chiefs and women Chiefs and Youth in Council.
According to them ” the claim that Tope Ijiniga, the Ayadi of Ore kingdom is not part of Olore In Council is false and misleading.
Setting the records straight, the Oloja Adoye of Ore Kingdom, Johnson Osungbemi,said the statement on the Ayadi was” issued to set the record straight and protect the integrity of our revered institution.
“The Olore In Council of Ore Kingdom, comprising of high chiefs, chiefs, women’s chiefs, and Olojas and baales, wishes to address a circulating news item attributed to Chief Aladenika Akindele.
“Chief Tope Ijiniga is a bonafide and qualified Chief in Ore Kingdom, and a rightful member of Olore In Council.
“We, the OLORE IN COUNCIL is agitating for a Substantive monarch in Ore Kingdom! We reject a regent.
While insisting that the period for installing a regent had elapsed they declared the “kingdom are in need of a substantive monarch to replace the late monarch, Oba Olatomide, who died six years ago.
According to them the proposed appointment of a regent directly contradicts established customs and undermines the authority of the OLORE IN COUNCIL
“Six years after the demise of our Oba, appointing a regent is unacceptable. What Ore needs now is a substantive king, not an imposed regent.
“We strongly object to this appointment. Six years after the demise of our monarch, appointing a regent in a commercial town like Ore is not only inappropriate but provocative.
“What the Ore kingdom needs now is a substantive monarch.
They warned that the move amounts to what it described as a “cultural coup,” capable of destabilising the peace and long-standing traditional order of the Ore Kingdom.
” The Olore in council is appealing to MR Governor to approve the process of installing new Olore of Ore through Akintimehins ruling house if Ore Kingdom.
The council, also urged the state governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to come to their aid and ensure that due process prevailed.
