Brand links product innovation to changing consumer tastes

By Henry Ojelu
Senior Director, Frontline Marketing, Nigeria at Coca-Cola, Yusuf Murtala, has said the launch of new 5Alive flavours underscores the company’s commitment to constant innovation and staying closely aligned with the evolving tastes of Nigerian consumers.
Speaking at the unveiling of the refreshed 5Alive portfolio, Murtala said the introduction of Mango and Cocopine flavours was deliberately designed to reinforce the brand’s relevance among Nigeria’s most expressive generation, while strengthening its position as a vibrant and trusted juice brand.
According to him, the expansion reflects Coca-Cola’s strategy of broadening consumer choice without losing sight of quality and brand identity.
“The expansion of 5alive’s brand portfolio with new flavours, Mango and Cocopine, demonstrates our commitment to constant innovation and consumer relevance. We’re broadening our offerings to meet evolving tastes while reinforcing 5alive’s position as a vibrant, trusted brand that inspires authentic expression and brings refreshment to every moment,” Murtala said.
5alive, one of Nigeria’s most popular juice brands, has for more than a decade been associated with bold, flavour-forward offerings. The latest additions — Mango, with its refreshing fruity notes, and Cocopine, an exotic blend of coconut and pineapple — are aimed at deepening consumer engagement and encouraging exploration of new taste experiences.
Murtala noted that the new flavours are part of a wider effort to ensure the brand continues to resonate with consumers whose lifestyles are defined by creativity, self-expression and energy.
Also speaking, Temitayo Ogunleye, Manager, Frontline Marketing, Nigeria at Coca-Cola, said the new flavours were inspired by the dynamic lifestyles of Nigerian consumers.
“These are more than just exciting new flavours; they are an extension of our consumers’ lives and moods. We are inspired by our consumers’ energy, and with the introduction of these new products, we aim to provide taste experiences that are just as dynamic, bold, and expressive as theirs,” Ogunleye said.
With the portfolio refresh, 5alive aims to strengthen its emotional connection with consumers while reinforcing its reputation for delivering vibrant, delicious refreshment that reflects Nigeria’s bold and creative spirit.
The brand said the new flavours further affirm its commitment to evolving alongside consumers, offering products that not only satisfy taste preferences but also inspire authentic expression and the joy of being filled with life.
