Latin music’s fast-rising star, Precious Perez, widely known as The Blind Reggaetonera, has unveiled her latest single, No Me Hizo Falta Verte, a heartfelt song she dedicates to her husband, Shane Lowe, as she ushers in a new phase of her music career.

The new track, a vibrant fusion of merengue, reggaeton and salsa, highlights themes of love, disability pride and cultural identity. Serving as the title track of her forthcoming EP, the song is the first in a cascade release of six singles leading up to the full project.

Perez revealed that the inspiration behind No Me Hizo Falta Verte, which translates to “I didn’t have to see you,” stems from her love story with Lowe, who is also blind. She explained that the title reflects her belief that genuine love goes beyond physical sight and thrives on emotional and spiritual connection.

The singer said the song took shape during a songwriting collaboration with Warner Chappell Latin writers, who encouraged her to share a personal and meaningful experience. What started as a discussion about disability pride soon evolved into a musical celebration of resilience, identity and romance.

Reflecting on her growth in the Latin music scene, Perez credited her steady rise to the strong support she has received from family, friends and her professional circle. She also acknowledged organisations such as Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities (RAMPD), alongside her management and production teams, for helping her develop her craft and confidence.

Perez cited reggaeton icon Ivy Queen and recording artist Lachi, founder of RAMPD, as key mentors who inspired her to embrace her individuality and push creative boundaries. She described her journey as one of constant transformation, noting her evolution from an aspiring performer into a thriving recording artist.

Beyond her musical pursuits, Perez has established herself as a passionate advocate for disability inclusion within the entertainment industry. Drawing from her experiences as a blind Latina artist, she aims to create visibility and opportunities in spaces where representation has historically been limited. While acknowledging global pioneers such as Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, she emphasised her determination to create a distinct platform for blind Latina performers within Latin music.

Her mission to become the first blind reggaetonera in the industry is rooted in both cultural pride and admiration for women who have broken gender and societal barriers. For Perez, challenging stereotypes involves dismantling industry limitations while amplifying marginalised voices through her music.

Perez’s academic background also plays a vital role in her artistry. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where she studied Music Education and Vocal Performance, she said her formal training helped shape her vocal technique and artistic self-assurance. She noted that early classical voice lessons in Boston laid the foundation for her transition into contemporary Latin music.

Her 2023 single, Sin Preguntar, marked a major turning point in her career. The reggaeton and salsa fusion track symbolised empowerment and independence, reinforcing her determination to pursue music on her own terms. The song later gained industry attention after being referenced in a sync brief for Paramount Plus’ animated Dora series, leading to Perez co-writing a song and voicing a character for the show.

Outside her recording career, Perez remains deeply involved in advocacy through her role as Advisor Emeritus at RAMPD, where she continues to champion accessibility and representation for artists with disabilities. She has also performed at renowned venues such as the Lincoln Center and contributed to discussions on disability inclusion through platforms including Grammy.com and Forbes.

Perez’s artistic journey gained further momentum following her Kennedy Center debut in 2023, a milestone she described as a defining moment in her career as La Reggaetonera Ciega. With multiple projects lined up for 2026, she says she is fully embracing her identity and creative purpose while setting her sights on achieving Latin Grammy recognition.

As she continues to carve out her space in the Latin music industry, Perez remains committed to sharing authentic stories that celebrate love, culture and inclusion, positioning herself as a trailblazer for future generations of artists.
