The National President of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria (AMP), Queen Blessing Ebigieson, has called for a strategic partnership with the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) to position Benue State as a leading hub for movie production in Nigeria.

Ebigieson made the appeal in Makurdi during a courtesy visit to the management of BIPC, where she commended the state’s developmental progress and improving peace.

“Benue is dear to my heart, and I do not want the state to be left out in the growth of the creative industry,” she said.

The AMP President, who disclosed that she was born in Makurdi but left at the age of nine, noted that she has observed remarkable transformation in the state over the years. She stressed that the entertainment industry had become a major driver of Nigeria’s economy and youth employment.

Citing global development reports, she stated that the creative sector ranks among the largest employers of young people after agriculture, emphasizing that Benue must strategically position itself to tap into the growing opportunities.

“The entertainment industry has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s GDP. We must project Benue positively to attract filmmakers, investors, and artists,” Ebigieson added.

She proposed the inclusion of BIPC products in movie productions as part of a mutually beneficial partnership and advocated for deeper collaboration toward establishing a film village in the state.

According to her, Benue is endowed with vast creative talents that, if properly harnessed, could attract diaspora investment and transform the state into a thriving production destination.

Responding, the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Raymond Asemakaha, welcomed the AMP delegation and expressed readiness to collaborate in line with the vision of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

“To grow the economy, the non-oil sector is critical. Anything that will grow the economy will receive our support. Although the nation experienced economic setbacks in the past, a revival has been launched and indicators show we are on the right track,” Asemakaha said.

He noted that Benue, with a population of over seven million people, holds significant production and investment potential.

The GMD further observed that the state produces more than 16,000 graduates annually without sufficient job opportunities, underscoring the urgent need to expand industries such as the creative sector to absorb young talents.

“Our doors are open for new ideas. Give us a checklist so we can collaborate effectively. BIPC is ready to work with the Association of Movie Producers,” he assured.
