An advocacy group, the South-South Vanguard Renaissance Group, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider contesting the 2027 presidential election, citing his experience and leadership qualities as key to Nigeria’s progress.
Spokesperson of the group, Henry Tamuno, in a communiqué issued yesterday, described Jonathan as a seasoned political leader and said his participation in the upcoming election could provide Nigerians with an experienced option for national leadership.
Tamuno highlighted that many Nigerians recall Jonathan’s tenure positively, particularly in terms of economic management and development initiatives. He said the group believes Nigerians value stability, inclusive governance, and a candidate with proven leadership experience.
“The group believes 2027 presents an opportunity for Nigerians to make informed choices about leadership,” Tamuno said. “We hope that experienced leaders, including former President Jonathan, consider contributing to national progress if they choose to contest.”
The group also urged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, engage in constructive political dialogue, and exercise their voting rights responsibly in the 2027 elections.
