Nollywood actress Zainab Bakare has fired back at online users who accused her of overreacting during the service of songs held in honour of her late colleague, Allwell Ademola.
The backlash followed the circulation of videos from the solemn event on social media, where some commenters alleged that Bakare was “acting for the camera” rather than expressing genuine grief.
Reacting via her Instagram page, the actress condemned the comments and vowed to confront her critics after Ademola’s burial.
“Y’all coming for me and tagging me with your full chest that I was acting for the camera, I will hold till we bury her(late Allwell Ademola) before I give you a taste of your medicine,” she wrote.
Bakare described the criticism as a distasteful exploitation of a tragic moment, stressing that a period of mourning should not be used for personal attacks.
“Koni da fun yin!!! Y’all are using the death of a loved one to dish out your Oriburuku. We shall see!!!,” she added.
Allwell Ademola’s burial service took place penultimate Friday at the Atan Cemetery in the Yaba area of Lagos.
Bakare shared a close professional relationship with the late actress. She featured in Ademola’s 2017 film False Flag and also co-starred with her in several popular Yoruba-language YouTube films, including Odere Mi and Kikioré.
