Nigeria’s youth leaders have commended the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, describing him as a shining example of a Nigerian youth making meaningful impact in governance.

The commendation came two years into Dr. Mustapha’s tenure, with youth leaders praising his leadership style and commitment to reforming the ECN in line with President Bola Tinubu’s “hope agenda.”

In a statement issued on behalf of the Pan-African Youth Union, the Vice President (West Africa), Oladele John Nihi, described Dr. Mustapha’s appointment as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for sustainable energy development.

According to the statement, Dr. Mustapha’s leadership has brought renewed focus to energy sustainability, innovation, and institutional reform at the commission, positioning the ECN as a key driver of national development.

“Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha is a shining example of a Nigerian youth making a positive impact in governance, and we are thrilled to see his expertise being deployed for the nation’s benefit at the Energy Commission of Nigeria,” Nihi said. “We pass a vote of confidence on Dr. Mustapha and commend President Tinubu for his visionary choice as Director-General.”

The youth leaders noted that Dr. Mustapha’s emphasis on reform, innovation, and youth inclusion has helped strengthen the commission’s role in advancing Nigeria’s energy sector. They added that his approach reflects a broader commitment to harnessing the talents of young Nigerians in driving national progress.

The Pan-African Youth Union, which represents youths across West Africa, also applauded Dr. Mustapha’s dedication to empowering young people and promoting energy development within Nigeria and across the sub-region.

“We urge all stakeholders to continue supporting Dr. Mustapha in his efforts to drive energy transformation in Nigeria,” Nihi added.

The statement further described Dr. Mustapha’s leadership as a reflection of President Tinubu’s resolve to empower Nigerian youths and promote sustainable national development, expressing optimism that the ECN would record greater progress and innovation under his continued leadership.
