Sanwo-Olu’s aides push youth participation in politics

By Dickson Omobola

Political aides to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State have encouraged young people and adults to register as members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying this would enable them participate in the state’s political process.

The aides, including the governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Tourism, Art and Culture, Damilola Marshal; SSA on Special Duties, Tobi Oladepo; and SSA on Youth, Alabi Opeyemi, gave this encouragement in a joint video.

In the video, SSA to the governor on Transport Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, said: “I have witnessed a significant level of political developments in my lifetime, and it’s been possible because I have taken an active role and not remained on the sidelines.

“I encourage all young people to join the APC today. We must note that youths are no longer the leaders of tomorrow, but champions of today. Therefore, the earlier you get involved, the better equipped you’ll be to shape the future. Tomorrow might be too late. Let us act now by registering for APC at the centre nearest to you.”

For Oladepo, he said: “Lagos is powered by the energy and brilliance of the young man. The city moves forward when the minds step into leadership.”

Meanwhile, Opeyemi said: “There are intelligent youths in Lagos State with fantastic ideas, and these ideas deserve a seat where real decisions are made.”

Also, Marshal said: “They told us politics wasn’t for young people until we proved them wrong. We stand by evidence that participation gives everything.”
