PDP Crisis: Ajadi hails court ruling, says party has regained stability

Ibadan, Oyo State — A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has welcomed the dismissal of a suit filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu over the position of PDP National Secretary, describing the ruling as a boost to the party’s stability and internal cohesion.

Ajadi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the case—on the grounds that it had been overtaken by events—has brought to an end a legal distraction that tested the party’s unity.

He said the ruling reaffirmed the PDP’s institutional strength and its capacity to resolve internal disagreements through lawful and constitutional means.

According to him, the outcome, alongside earlier judicial pronouncements on the matter, has helped to strengthen confidence in the party’s leadership structures and internal democratic processes.

Ajadi noted that the PDP’s handling of the dispute underscored its experience as a political institution and its commitment to due process.

He urged party members across the country to remain united and focus on rebuilding and strengthening the PDP ahead of future elections, particularly in states where the party is working to reclaim political ground.

The Oyo State PDP aspirant also called on former members who had left the party during the period of internal disagreement to return, stressing the need for collective effort in repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ajadi further encouraged party leaders at all levels to intensify grassroots mobilisation and strategic engagement with Nigerians, saying internal unity would be key to the party’s future electoral prospects.

He commended PDP leaders nationwide for what he described as their patience and commitment to internal democracy throughout the legal process.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, had earlier dismissed Senator Anyanwu’s suit without awarding costs, effectively ending one of the lingering legal disputes over the PDP’s national leadership and paving the way for further internal consolidation within the party.
