Niger Delta ex-agitator, self-styled “General” Endurance Amagbein, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians on the New Year, calling on citizens and leaders to renew their commitment to peace, unity, and national security in 2026.

In a New Year message issued in Abuja, Amagbein expressed optimism about the year ahead, encouraging Nigerians to remain hopeful and united despite prevailing challenges. He said the nation’s potential is limitless if its people embrace opportunities with belief and determination.

Amagbein extended special greetings to President Tinubu and the leadership of the National Assembly, commending their resilience in guiding the country through socio-economic and security challenges. He described the New Year as an opportunity for citizens and leaders to support one another and recommit to actions that strengthen national cohesion.

He also praised security officials for their dedication, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.); the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi; and other service chiefs. He prayed for divine protection and strength for them in the year ahead.

Amagbein further extended goodwill to security commands and personnel in the Niger Delta, including the 5 Battalion, Elele; 16 Brigade, Yenagoa; DSS Bayelsa State; Central Naval Command Headquarters, Yenagoa; and the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe, for their efforts in safeguarding lives and property.

He also conveyed his New Year wishes to the government and people of Bayelsa State, led by Governor Douye Diri, praying that 2026 would be favourable for all.

Advising Nigerians to avoid actions that undermine peace and unity, Amagbein stressed that the New Year should be a time for deliberate efforts to improve lives and foster security. He urged citizens to remain vigilant, support the armed forces in their duties, and back the administration of President Tinubu to enable it deliver more dividends of democracy.

He concluded by praying for God’s protection over military personnel and other security operatives serving the nation.
