General Manager of African Telescope, Emmanuel Williams, in a statement, said the Editorial Board, chaired by Dr Rasaq Adisa, an Associate Professor at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, provides strategic editorial guidance, enhances the organisation’s credibility, and contributes informed perspectives on issues of continental importance in line with the vision and values of African Telescope.

The statement said the appointments followed careful consideration of the scholars’ academic credentials, professional experience, and commitment to Africa-centred discourse.

“The appointments are aimed at broadening the organisation’s regional representation and deepening its intellectual and professional expertise across diverse fields,” it said.

Dr Kaburu, who holds a PhD in Reproductive Health Sciences, was described as bringing a strong blend of academic depth, research excellence and policy-related expertise to the organisation.

“As Secretary of the Editorial Board, Dr Kaburu will play a critical role in coordinating editorial activities, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring proper documentation and implementation of Board decisions,” the statement said, adding that her appointment is expected to enhance the Board’s effectiveness and global engagement.

Similarly, Dr Jade Ampomaah Appiah-Lartey, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, was described as an astute scholar-practitioner with strong academic rigour and strategic expertise in marketing and digital communication.

“Her appointment is in recognition of her outstanding academic credentials, professional expertise, and notable contributions to scholarship and practice in the field of communication,” the management said.

The appointment of Dr Mbouemboue Ahmed was also described as a strategic addition to the Board. Dr Ahmed holds a PhD in Petroleum Geoscience and has extensive academic, research and industry experience.

He is currently a researcher at the Ministry of Scientific Research in Cameroon.

According to the statement, his expertise will enrich the Board’s strategic insight and technical understanding, particularly on issues relating to natural resources, energy and sustainable development in Africa.

“Dr Ahmed’s appointment reflects our commitment to building a diverse and intellectually strong Editorial Board capable of guiding high-quality, credible and impactful journalism,” Williams said.
