Residents of Alausa in Ikeja Local Government Area, Lagos State, have commended the Vice Chairman of the council, Mr. Abisola Omisore, for initiating a Yuletide food distribution programme aimed at easing the economic burden on households during the festive season.
The distribution exercise, which commenced on December 23, 2025, and ended on January 11, 2026, reportedly benefitted hundreds of residents across the area.
Some beneficiaries of the gesture, which included the distribution of bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil, told newsmen on Sunday that the initiative demonstrated the council’s concern for the welfare of the people.
A beneficiary, Mrs. Omolola Famiwaye, described the intervention as timely and commendable, thanking the vice chairman for what she termed a rare show of compassion.
“This is commendable. Only people sent by God can do this. We are talking about about 5,000 bags of rice and many gallons of cooking oil distributed so far. We thank our able Vice Chairman.
“God bless our Vice Chairman and our leaders in Ward B. They are really doing their best to positively impact the lives of residents,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Mr. Taiwo Oladipupo, a septuagenarian, also expressed gratitude, noting that the food items would help sustain many families for weeks.
According to him, the intervention would provide relief to elderly residents and low-income earners who are struggling with rising food prices.
Similarly, Miss Aishat Abiodun, a student, thanked Omisore for the support, saying the food items would last her for several weeks while in school.
“I am grateful for the food items. These will last me for some weeks in school,” she said.
Speaking during the distribution, Omisore said the initiative was in line with the council administration’s commitment to the welfare of residents, particularly in view of prevailing economic challenges.
He said the exercise was designed to provide practical support to households and reassure residents of the council’s responsiveness.
“We recognise that many households are facing enormous economic pressure, so this intervention is a practical step to support families and show that the local government remains responsive and compassionate.
“This exercise reflects our administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Ikeja Local Government Area,” Omisore said.
He added that the programme was driven by the belief that leadership was rooted in service to the people.
“While this intervention may not solve all the problems, it represents our resolve to stand with our communities and ensure that relief reaches those who need it most,” he said.
