HCDT takes free health outreach to 5000 in A’Ibom

UYO – BOPANE Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) has opened a free health outreach for a target 5,000 beneficiaries across five communities of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area (LGA) of Akwa Ibom State

At the flag off at Obolo, the Chairman board of Trustee of the Trust, Mr Sampson Agba, beneficiaries would receive medical consultations, diagnoses and treatments as life threatening ailments would be detected to prevent complications and avoidable deaths.

“This programme is designed to bring quality health care closer to our people, especially those who may not easily access medical services due to distance, cost and other challenges.

”Our people will receive free medical consultations, diagnoses and treatments. Common ailments will be detected early, preventing complications and avoidable loss of lives”, he explained.

Following findings that underprivileged girls in secondary schools attend schools without sanitary pads during menstrual circle, Agba added that the health intervene also including addressing this challenge.

Agba said, “A major component of this outreach is reaching out to our school children. We had engagement with our schools, and we are told some children (girls) don’t have sanitary pads and this affects their learning and comfort of their teachers

”For oral health of students we are distributing tooth paste and tooth brushes to boost oral health of our children. We are also distributing delivery kids to our pregnant women.”

Paramount ruler of Eastern Obolo LGA, His Royal Higness Harry Etetor, said the emergency the HCDT birthed the PIA has improved development in host communities

Chairman of Eastern Obolo LG, Samuel Nteogwuijah, represented by the Vice chairman, Oke Benson, lauded the initiatives, urging the people to take advantage of the outreach for their overall wellbeing.
