In a miraculous manner, a survivor has been reportedly, rescued from the rubble, 11 days after fire gutted the Great Nigeria Insurance, GNI, Building, Marina, Lagos State.
The collapse of the Great Nigeria House in a bustling market area, left traders, residents, and passersby in shock over the scale of destruction and loss of life.
The building has caught fire on Christmas Eve before collapsing, creating panic across the area.
Rescue teams, who had been tirelessly searching through the rubble, discovered the individual alive—long after hopes of finding survivors had dwindled.
The survivor’s recovery has been described by many as “a miracle, ” given the extended period trapped beneath the debris.
Though, the video of the rescue operation has gone viral on social media, authorities have yet
to comment on the operation.
Also, as of press time, details on the cause of the fire was yet to be released by relevant authorities as emergency teams continued with rescue operations as well as ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
Recall that some concerned residents and family members of some victims have raised the alarm that their loved ones were still trapped in the rubble as they have not been seen after the incident happened.
Also, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA has already opened Help Desk for people with complaints over missing persons for necessary actions.
Lagos fire service dismisses report
Meanwhile, when contacted, a senior officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, dismissed the report, saying it was the video of an earlier rescue operations conducted.
According to the source, “Not at all as we have no record of such. The video is of 25th December, 2025.”
