The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila has commended Summit University, Offa, for the honouring his mother, Alhaja Lateefat Gbajabiamila, with a Doctorate Degree of Science in Business Administration, just as he donated N200m to launch the Lateefat Gbajabiamila College of Nursing in honour of his mother.
Gbajabiamila, who expressed his gratitude at the robing ceremony held on Saturday, in Surulere, Lagos, said the gesture was not by accident or coincidence but track record.
He said: “I want to thank everybody that had in one way or the other made this a very glorious occasion. I thank all our fathers that are here today. We don’t take this for granted, for anybody to show up here on Saturday when there is so much to do and be seated here for hours, its a great testament to the esteem with which you hold our mother and family. God will continue to be with you, Allah will continue to protect and bless you.”
“I thank the members of the National Assembly as well that are gathered here, friends, traditional rulers and White Cap Chiefs for sitting through this. We thank Allah for this woman seated to my right. At 96, been recognised and acknowledged and given a Doctorate Degree by Summit University. It is not a accident, it is not a coincidence, it is track record and I thank God for her life.”
Also speaking, Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Abiodun Musa Aibinu, highlighted the significance of the ceremony noting that it testified Summit University’s dedication excellence in all aspects of life.
He said: “This robing is not only an honour to Alhaja Gbajabiamila, it is also a statement of shared value. It affirms our believe that university must recognise character, service faith and social impact, alongside academic excellence. Its our hope and prayer that this college will soon admit students and begin to product nurses who will serve with skill, empathy and integrity reflecting the values of the woman whose name it bears.”
In her remarks, Lateefat Gbajabiamila thanked the University for honouring her.
She expressed gratitude for the Lateefat Gbajabiamila College of Nursing saying it is a “sanctuary where young women will be trained to lead and serve with compassion.”
She said: “Its my heartfelt wish that students will be admitted this year, and that I may witness them grow into world-class nurses who will serve Nigeria and humanity with excellence and mercy.”.
