Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has commended security agencies for the successful rescue of a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Maruf Musa, who was abducted last week in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.

Hon. Musa was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m. while observing prayers in Ibiade community.

He regained freedom after spending about three days in captivity.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Senator Daniel expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the former lawmaker and praised the professionalism and dedication of the nation’s security institutions involved in the rescue operation.

He specifically commended the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as the Ogun State Commissioner of Police and Director of the DSS, alongside other security agencies, for what he described as swift, coordinated, and intelligence-driven efforts that led to Musa’s release.

“Their commitment and tireless efforts once again reaffirm the resolve of our security institutions to protect lives and property,” Daniel said.

The senator also thanked the people of Ogun State, particularly residents of Ogun East Senatorial District, for their prayers, concern, and moral support during the period of uncertainty surrounding the abduction.

According to him, the show of solidarity and collective faith demonstrated by the people was deeply reassuring and reflective of the unity and resilience of the state.

Describing the incident as a reminder of the country’s security challenges, Daniel called for sustained collective action against insecurity while expressing optimism that coordinated security efforts and public cooperation would continue to yield results.

“The safe return of Hon. Maruf Musa renews our confidence that with unity, prayer, and professional security engagement, evil will not prevail over our land,” he stated.

Senator Daniel further prayed for the full physical, emotional, and psychological recovery of the former lawmaker and his family, while reiterating his commitment to initiatives and collaborations aimed at promoting peace, safety, and the general well-being of residents of Ogun State.
