Comrade Taofeek Adisa emerges new NUPENG IMB Lagos Chairman

Comrade Taofeek Olayiwola Adisa of Mosimi Depot has emerged as the new Chairman of the Lagos Zonal Council of the Independent Marketers Branch, IMB, of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.


He was elected along new set of executives during the Council’s 6th Delegates Conference at the NUPENG Lagos Zonal Council Secretariat.


The conference, conducted in strict accordance with the provisions of the IMB Bye-laws and the NUPENG Constitution, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and due process.
He expressed gratitude to the delegates and promised to strengthen the union’s unity and welfare initiatives.


“I am humbled by the confidence my colleagues have placed in me. My priority will be to ensure that the welfare of all members is protected, and that our union continues to be a beacon of transparency and solidarity in the petroleum sector,” Adisa said.


Comrades Adetunji Azeez Adeniyi (Ibadan Depot) and Ayedun Olu Samuel (Ejigbo) were elected Deputy Chairmen, while Comrade Ajayi Babatunde Michael emerged Vice Chairman. Comrade Tajudeen Balogun (Ilorin) was elected Zonal Secretary, with Comrade Ajayi Ajibola Oyetunde (Mosimi) as Zonal Assistant Secretary.


Other key positions were filled as follows: Comrade Adegunloye Adeshina I. (Ejigbo) as Treasurer, Comrade Suleiman Olawale A. (Ibadan) as Trustee, Comrades Sulaiman A. Kamaldeen (Ilorin Unit) and Abiola Akinkunle (Ejigbo Unit) as Auditors, and Comrade Adepoju Abdulkareem A. as Financial Secretary. Comrade Ogundare Funmilayo Toyin was elected Public Relations Officer, while Comrade Sodipo Olasunkanmi Seunara (Mosimi) emerged Industrial Relations Officer.
The welfare positions were filled by Comrade Oyeyinka Oyetunji Joseph (Male) and Comrade Alimeke Scholar Olayemi (Female, Ejigbo), while Comrade Adesokan Sikiru Adetona (Ejigbo) was elected Chief Whip.
In addition, the council announced the appointment of Comrade Olayemi Samuel Abayomi as Special Adviser, with Comrades Ijabejo Korede and Segun Fatope as Advisers, Comrade Abideen Folorunsho as Ex-officio, and Comrade Patricia Aina Oke as Adviser, Women Affairs.


The union congratulated the newly elected and appointed officers, commending members for the peaceful conduct of the conference. It also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing leadership, particularly Comrade Olayemi Samuel Abayomi, who completed two tenures, for his service in growing the union.


“The peaceful and successful conduct of this conference demonstrates the maturity and unity of our members. We are confident that under the new leadership, NUPENG IMB Lagos will continue to champion the rights and welfare of petroleum and natural gas workers,” a statement from the union read.
