Caleb Danladi Bako expands medical outreach to Kaninkon chiefdom

Philanthropist and marine expert, Captain Caleb Danladi Bako, has expanded his medical outreach initiative to the Kaninkon (Nikyob) Chiefdom, with renewed focus on widows and other vulnerable women.

Captain Danladi made this known while serving as Chairman of the occasion at the public presentation of “A History of the Nikyob (Kaninkon) People from Early Times to 2000,” held in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Speaking at the event, he said the expansion was driven by his belief that sustainable community development must prioritise the health, dignity and wellbeing of the most vulnerable members of society. He added that the occasion provided an opportunity to link cultural preservation with meaningful social intervention.

The philanthropist disclosed that no fewer than 700 widows and vulnerable women in Jaba Local Government Area are already benefiting from his sponsorship under the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Scheme (KADCHMA), through which he fully funds their enrolment to guarantee access to quality healthcare services.

Building on this effort, Captain Danladi announced the enrolment of an additional 50 women from the Kaninkon Chiefdom into the KADCHMA scheme, describing it as the first phase of an expanded outreach programme targeting Nikyob communities.

He further revealed that the initiative would be scaled up in phases to reach more women and other vulnerable persons across chiefdoms in Southern Kaduna.

According to him, improving access to healthcare for women—particularly widows—has far-reaching benefits for families and communities, helping to reduce preventable deaths and strengthen social stability.

Captain Danladi called on well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and development partners to support similar interventions that complement government efforts in the health sector.

Community leaders and women’s groups at the event commended him for sustaining a healthcare initiative that has already touched the lives of hundreds, describing the extension of the programme to the Kaninkon Chiefdom as timely and deeply compassionate.

He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the medical outreach, assuring that healthcare support would remain a central pillar of his humanitarian and community development efforts across Southern Kaduna.
