APPOEMN to host OWAMBE 5.0 with 1940s ‘Old Skool’ revival theme

The Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) has announced the fifth edition of its annual industry gathering, OWAMBE 5.0, themed “Nigeria Old Skool Concept – The 1940s Revival.” The event is scheduled to hold on 3 February in Ikeja, Lagos.

OWAMBE, organised as a networking and social platform for players in Nigeria’s event industry, brings together planners, decorators, vendors, creatives and other stakeholders for an evening that blends professional interaction with entertainment.

According to APPOEMN President, Ayiri Oladunmoye, the event serves both as a social reunion and a professional engagement for members of the association at the start of the year.

“OWAMBE is more than a party for us. It is a way to mark the new year, celebrate excellence, strengthen professional relationships and appreciate the talents that sustain the industry,” Oladunmoye said.

She added that the 2025 edition draws inspiration from Nigeria’s classic party culture of the 1940s, reflecting vintage fashion, music and social aesthetics while still accommodating modern event practices.

The Event Director, Segun Inanwolay, said activities planned for the night include a red-carpet old-skool fashion showcase, live band performances, recognition of industry contributors and networking sessions targeted at event professionals.

Participants are expected to align with the theme by appearing in old-skool inspired outfits, as the organisers aim to recreate the ambience associated with Nigeria’s earlier celebration eras through music, décor and cuisine.

APPOEMN’s Public Relations Director, Sakirat Bello, noted that previous editions of OWAMBE have attracted planners, caterers, decorators, hospitality brands, media partners and corporate supporters.

“The event provides a space where partnerships are formed, creativity is highlighted and emerging talents gain visibility within the industry,” she said.

OWAMBE 5.0 is positioned as part of APPOEMN’s broader efforts to promote standards, collaboration and innovation within Nigeria’s event management sector.

Registration is open to both members and non-members, with partnership and sponsorship opportunities also available.

APPOEMN is a professional body focused on advancing ethics, training and capacity development for practitioners in Nigeria’s event industry.
