The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has formally welcomed Senator Sunday Marshall Katung into its fold following his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The presentation of the party membership card took place in Madakiya Ward, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, where the Ward Chairman of the APC, Mr. Alfred Diriya, officially handed over the card to the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District.
Speaking at the brief but symbolic ceremony, Senator Katung expressed confidence that his entry into the APC would strengthen and re-energise the party across Southern Kaduna and the state as a whole.
He said his decision to join the ruling party was driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the party’s electoral success.
“Our intention is to add value and ensure that we win all forthcoming elections for the party,” Katung said.
He described the APC as an inclusive and progressive platform, noting that the party has “come to stay.”
“APC is now an all-inclusive party. We joined the party because of what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District,” he added.
The Senator also called on stakeholders and residents of Southern Kaduna to unite under the APC to accelerate development in the zone.
“I am using this opportunity to call on everyone to join hands with us to develop Southern Kaduna together,” he appealed.
Midat Joseph, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to Senator Katung, said party leaders and supporters at the event welcomed the Senator warmly, describing his defection as a major boost to the APC’s political prospects in Kaduna South ahead of future elections.
