The Ogun State chapter of the Obedient Movement has sealed a strategic alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following what both sides described as “robust and fruitful” discussions.
This followed the official declaration by former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi in joining the ADC.
The alliance was finalised at a closed-door meeting in Abeokuta, where leaders of the Obedient Movement, led by the State Coordinator, Hon. Olubowale Obaloluwa, met with the ADC leadership in the state and South-West zone.
ADC leaders present at the meeting included the South-West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Eyiowuawi; the Ogun State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Olufemi Soluade; the State Secretary, Hon. Olusoji; Dr. Tunde Soaga, among others.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Soluade described the engagement as more than a ceremonial interaction.
“Today is not just a welcome ceremony; it is a strategic session. We had robust discussions on structure, philosophy and the pathway to 2027.
The speed and clarity with which the Obedient Movement has acted is exceptional. We are not merely integrating members; we are merging missions,” he said.
In his remarks, South-West Zonal Chairman of the party, Hon. Eyiowuawi, said the alliance reflected a disciplined and deliberate approach to political consolidation. “The Obidient Movement waited for the direction of their principal and then moved with purpose. What we have achieved here is a foundation of trust with a clear operational framework for the future,” he noted.
On behalf of the Obidient Movement, Hon. Obaloluwa Arewa said discussions covered grassroots mobilisation, party structure and principles guiding candidate selection. “We are united by the resolve to promote only individuals with proven capacity, competence and character. This alliance is action-driven, and Ogun State is ready to lead that action,” he stated.
The State Secretary of the Obidient Movement, Kareem Owolabi, said the partnership would ensure that the energy of supporters is productively harnessed. “This is a partnership of equals, focused on tangible outcomes rather than political symbolism,” he said.
Other delegates of the movement, including Coach Fagbemi and Comrade Unique Adebayo, emphasised data-driven campaigns, community engagement, voter education and massive mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with particular focus on supporting Peter Obi and credible ADC candidates.
Political observers say the swift alliance significantly alters the political dynamics in Ogun State, combining the ADC’s party structure with the Obidient Movement’s strong grassroots and youth-driven network, as preparations intensify towards the 2027 polls.
