Senator Ede Dafinone has expressed strong optimism about the future of Delta Central, saying the new year holds fresh promise for the people of the district and the wider Urhobo Nation.

In a New Year message released on Wednesday, the senator said 2026 comes with encouraging economic signals that suggest a better year than the one just ended. “I am very optimistic that 2026 will be far better than 2025, judging from available indicators,” he said.

Dafinone acknowledged that challenges remain but stressed that progress has been made. “We may not yet be exactly where we aspire to be, but we are certainly not where we used to be,” he noted, pointing to the steady gains recorded through collective effort and resilience.

He said the people of Delta Central have shown strength in difficult times, adding that their determination remains the region’s greatest asset. “Our journey has been marked by perseverance and resolve, and this gives me strong confidence that greater opportunities lie ahead,” he said.

The senator urged residents, especially those in rural communities, to remain focused and hardworking. According to him, the growth of the district depends largely on the commitment of its people to their daily trades and businesses. “The people of Delta Central are naturally industrious. I encourage you to continue in your various occupations with dedication,” he said.

Dafinone noted that agriculture, small businesses and traditional livelihoods remain key drivers of local development. He stressed that sustained effort in these areas would translate into broader economic stability for families and communities.

He also highlighted the importance of the current political alignment between the Delta State Government and the Federal Government, describing it as a rare opportunity for accelerated development. “This alignment, if properly harnessed, can bring tangible benefits to Delta State and Delta Central in particular,” he stated.

The senator said such cooperation could fast-track infrastructure, social services and other critical projects that have long been needed in the district. “It is an opportunity we must not waste,” he added.

Calling for unity, Dafinone urged the Urhobo Nation to remain positive and forward-looking as the year unfolds. “We must stay united and focused on the bigger picture of development and progress,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to working with the Delta State Governor and the Federal Government to ensure that the interests of Delta Central are fully protected. “I am confident that 2026 will be a year of progress, inclusion and renewed hope for our people,” he said.
