In what could be described as one of the most significant pre-release endorsements in recent Nigerian music history, Black Fab’s Soundyard Vol 1 received overwhelming support from over 20 of Lagos’s most respected on-air personalities at an exclusive listening session hosted by media heavyweight Do2dtun.
The carefully curated event brought together a who’s who of Nigerian radio and media, with attendees including Taymi B, Moni, OTB, RnB, Louie, Arthur, Alimat, Kolade, Cheche Smith, DJ Rabbit, Chichi Ella, Grand Prince, Real Skillz, Timi, Charity, Kemismallz, Emmanuella Odiatu, Yaw, and Fola. The unanimous verdict: Black Fab is poised to be Nigeria’s next major export.
During the session, Black Fab previewed several tracks from the forthcoming project, with particular attention paid to “I Like Am,” the forthcoming single “Away” (January 30th release), “Ufedo,” and “Keep On Moving.” Sources present described the atmosphere as electric, with seasoned media professionals visibly moved by the quality and originality of the music.
“I’ve attended countless listening sessions over my career, but this was different,” shared Rhythm FM’s RnB. “Black Fab isn’t trying to sound like anyone else. ‘I Like Am’ has this infectious energy that’s uniquely his. This is the kind of artistry Nigeria should be celebrating.”
Perhaps the most significant moment came when host Do2dtun made an impassioned plea to his colleagues. “This music is the reason I’m getting back in the music business,” he announced. “The sound is so refreshing. I’m excited about where the journey is headed, and I’m pleading with everyone to adopt him as their own.”
Industry watchers suggest Do2dtun’s public endorsement carries substantial weight, given his influential position in Nigerian media and his reputation for supporting authentic talent. His decision to host the listening session and publicly commit to supporting Black Fab’s career signals a potential shift in how emerging artists can leverage industry relationships.
Wazobia FM’s Arthur praised the production quality of Soundyard Vol 1. “The attention to detail on every track, especially ‘Ufedo,’ shows that Black Fab understands music as both art and craft,” he noted. “This isn’t rushed content—this is carefully constructed sonic architecture.”
DJ Rabbit, who has broken numerous hits across Nigerian airwaves, confirmed he would be adding tracks from the project to his rotation. “Away’ is dropping January 30th, and I’m already planning my mix strategy,” he revealed. “This has radio hit written all over it, but it also has depth. That combination is rare.”
Media personality Chichi Ella emphasized the project’s potential appeal beyond Nigeria. “‘Keep On Moving’ has that universal quality that transcends borders,” she observed. “With the right marketing push, Black Fab could be the next Nigerian artist to crack international markets in a meaningful way.”
The collective endorsement from such an influential group of media professionals is expected to translate into significant airplay and media coverage for Soundyard Vol 1. With “Away” serving as the next single ahead of the full project release, Black Fab appears positioned to capitalize on the momentum generated by this strategic listening session.
