The Lagos premiere of the much-anticipated Nollywood film A Very Dirty Christmas held on December 15, 2025, at FilmHouse Cinemas IMAX, Lekki, drawing an impressive turnout of cast members and celebrities from across the entertainment industry.
The red carpet was a convergence of Nollywood royalty and pop culture influencers, with notable appearances by Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke Linus, IK Ogbonna, Nancy Isime, Osas Ighodaro, Gbenro Ajibade, AY, Waje, Rukky Sanda, Bisola Aiyeola, Ashmusy, Nasboi, MC Lively, Phyna, and several others who added verve to the event.
Produced by Ini Edo and directed by Akay Mason, A Very Dirty Christmas explores how what begins as a seemingly joyful family Christmas gathering quickly descends into chaos as long-buried secrets resurface and shocking scandals erupt. The film blends mystery, drama, and humour while addressing underlying societal issues through the lens of family dynamics.
Ini Edo, who also stars as Lulu, described the project as both humbling and fulfilling. Speaking at the premiere, the actress shared her gratitude and connection to the story.
“It feels humbling. I am super grateful and blessed. It feels amazing to be alive and to be here with everyone today,” she said. “I have always wanted to tell a family story that people can gather around with their friends and loved ones to enjoy, be intrigued by, and also reflect on societal ills. Even if it’s just one subject we’re able to shed light on, A Very Dirty Christmas does exactly that. When I read the script, I knew it was the kind of mystery I wanted to uncover.”
Singer and actress Waje, who also stars in the film, noted that the movie challenges typical expectations of Christmas-themed productions.
“It’s a different kind of Christmas movie from what a lot of people might expect,” she said. “It is rooted in family values, sisterhood, and generally great humour.”
The premiere venue was transformed into a festive spectacle, with Christmas-themed décor dominated by red hues, sparkling lights, and a live orchestra accompanied by a singer performing classic Christmas carols, creating a warm and immersive holiday atmosphere.
The celebrations continued at the after-party, where Reekado Banks delivered a live performance, while Pocolee and Jerry Shaffer kept the energy high as hypemen.
