The Governing Council of Castle Park University, United States, has promoted Nigerian scholar, Dr. Chinedu Ogwus, to the rank of Professor of Energy Policy and Management.
The University said the elevation recognises Professor Ogwus’ sustained academic excellence and his wide-ranging contributions to energy governance, sustainable development and policy innovation at both national and international levels.
In a statement, the President of Castle Park University, Professor Hart Jones, described the promotion as a strategic endorsement of the institution’s commitment to advancing world-class, socially relevant scholarship.
According to Jones, Professor Ogwus represents the calibre of scholars whose research transcends theory to meaningfully influence energy policy, industrial practice and sustainable development outcomes globally.
He added that Ogwus brings extensive international professional recognition to the University, including Chartered and Registered engineering and management credentials in the United Kingdom and the United States, further strengthening the institution’s global academic profile.
Also speaking, the Head of Academic Affairs, John Stone, said the promotion followed a rigorous, multi-level evaluation of Professor Ogwus’ scholarly publications, professional accomplishments and policy impact.
Stone noted that his research on energy transition, environmental governance and sustainable leadership within the oil and gas sector aligns strongly with the University’s vision of impactful, solution-driven research.
Before his appointment, Professor Ogwus served as Regional Director for Africa, Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, where he was recognised for advancing the integration of technology, policy frameworks and sustainable practices across Africa’s energy sector.
In his acceptance remarks, Professor Ogwus expressed appreciation to the University and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting inclusive, people-centred energy policies.
He emphasised that energy remains fundamental to human development, economic growth and environmental sustainability, stressing that knowledge must always be applied in service to humanity.
Professor Ogwus’ research has had significant impact across Africa’s energy landscape, including studies on oil spill management in the Niger Delta, pipeline security, biogas utilisation in West Africa, and the relationship between environmental security and political stability.
The University noted that his elevation further reinforces Castle Park University’s standing as a centre for transformative scholarship and global leadership in energy policy.
