The Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. ‘Seyi Jakande, has described his first 100 days in office as a deliberate attempt to uphold the legacy of his father, the late Chief Lateef Jakande, first executive governor of Lagos State, who prioritised social investment, youth development and community-centred governance.
Speaking at the commissioning of groundbreaking projects and Grand Finale of Season 4, Sport Fiesta, Jakande noted that the development trajectory of his administration continues to align with the HEWA agenda and he is proud of his achievements.
“Our development trajectory continues to align with our HEWA agenda, and we are proud of our modest achievements. In the health sector, we constructed a primary healthcare centre at Kayode Street, procured a fully-equipped ambulance for emergencies, and organised a free medical outreach in partnership with Eko Club Atlanta, serving over 1,000 residents. Currently, we are providing free eye medical care with glasses and medications to nearly 1,000 residents in partnership with the Previous Sight Foundation UK,” he said.
As part of the LCDA’s agenda to strengthen academic foundation, pre-GCE qualifying examinations was conducted for 1,000 students and provided G.C.E forms and registration for 250 students.
Also, Jakande stressed that “Back to School, Back to Pocket” initiative organised in the past has provided free bags, complete exercise books and stationery to pupils in all primary schools in the community.
“We have improved the free school ride programme, sponsored a spelling bee competition, and launched the One Day Chairman programme to enhance civic engagement among our youth. Additionally, the tertiary indigent students are not left behind, we are giving out bursary awards to 250 tertiary students who have shown a good performance and dedication in their academic pursuit,” Jakande stated.

Again, Jakande reaffirmed his administration commitment to works and infrastructure, especially in the area of construction and rehabilitation of boreholes across all wards to ensure access to clean water.
“We constructed and rehabilitated boreholes across all wards to ensure access to clean water. Road and drainage reconstruction is in progress at Akala, Adedoja, Igbarere, Ashaoku, Damengoro to Shokunbi, Industrial Crescent, Oladipo Shonde, and Ade Akinsanya Streets, respectively. Our installation of solar-powered lights and CCTV cameras, enhances security, while a brand-new generator we procured ensures uninterrupted council operations.
“Our solar charging stations have empowered youths as kiosk administrators as well as providing reliable power access to residents. We have formed a joint taskforce, bringing together all police divisions, our OTEC team, vigilante groups, and hunters to combat crime effectively.
Again, the chairman noted how agriculture and community development in the LCDA have sustained discounted agricultural product initiative and sponsored World Food Day 2025, adding, “Our commitment to cultural heritage was reflected in our sponsorship Isese Day, fostering peaceful co-existence with traditional rulers.
“For youth and sports development, we constructed a modern 5-A-side football field to provide a safe environment for recreation and talent development. Our school feeding “JAKO JOLLOF” benefits all primary school pupils, alongside empowering 28 food vendors for effective delivery.
“We have successfully completed the Chairman’s Cup, engaging 50 teams and 800 players across five categories..
“We hosted the inaugural SJ Football Competition in celebration of Nigeria’s independence on the 1st October, and we sponsored the DFA Women’s League to support gender balance and we have included people with disabilities in our annual sports fiesta,” he stated.
