On Christmas eve, Lagos once again witnessed the grandeur of Eko Hotel’s Santa Illie’s Grand Carnival Procession, one of Africa’s largest Christmas carnivals. Held annually over the past few years and organised by Eko Hotel, the procession has become a defining feature of the city’s festive calendar, bringing together families, performers and spectators in a celebration of culture, music and community.

The procession commenced from Eko Hotel and Suites, moving through Ajose, before returning to the Hakuna Matata Theme Park on Ahmadu Bello Way. Along the route, the streets of Victoria Island were transformed into a vibrant corridor of colour and sound.

A diverse lineup of performers added to the spectacle, including Makossa dancers, bikers, skaters and costumed entertainers. More than one thousand families joined the procession, many walking alongside the performers, dancing to the music and sharing in the festive spirit.

Commenting on the significance of the carnival, Dr. Iyadunni Gbadebo, Director of Marketing at Eko Hotel, said “Santa Illie’s Grand Carnival Procession reflects our commitment to creating meaningful festive experiences that unite families and celebrate the spirit of Christmas. Each year, our aim is to deliver an event that brings joy to the community and reinforces Lagos as a city of culture and celebration.”
