Proceedings at the Lagos High Court on Friday, December 12, 2026, saw the court decline to admit certain documents presented by counsel to Jude Okoye, after ruling that they were not properly introduced in line with procedural requirements.
Justice Oshodi upheld objections raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which contended that the documents were not part of the court’s record and were therefore inadmissible. The court consequently struck out the materials.
The ruling followed a similar decision delivered on November 28, when the defence made an earlier attempt to tender related documents, which the court also rejected after objections from the prosecution.
Following the ruling, the trial proceeded with testimony from Peter Okoye (Mr. P), who appeared as a prosecution witness in the case arising from disputes over the management of P-Square’s royalties and corporate earnings.
During cross-examination, Peter addressed issues surrounding the flow of royalties linked to Northside Entertainment Limited, a company jointly owned by Peter, Paul, and Jude Okoye. He told the court that concerns arose after the group’s temporary split, when royalty payments from publishers and aggregators were no longer being received through the company’s established accounts.
According to his testimony, subsequent reviews of financial records indicated that some revenues connected to P-Square were paid into accounts operated by another company, Northside Music Limited. Peter told the court that this development prompted him to seek clarification and later submit a petition to the EFCC for investigation.
He further stated that, to his knowledge, the company receiving the funds was not part of the group’s recognised business structure at the time the transactions occurred, and that he had not given consent to the arrangement. These issues, he said, form the basis of the ongoing legal dispute.
The court adjourned the matter to February 20 and 27, 2026, for the continuation of cross-examination.
