College introduces UK university pathway programmes for Nigerian students

A private tertiary institution, Jokings International Business College (JIBC), has introduced UK-standard university pathway programmes for Nigerian students following its acquisition of the Oxford International franchise in Abuja.

The President of the college, Mr Kingsley Ibeji, disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the inauguration of the Oxford International Abuja Centre.

According to him, the partnership enables the centre to deliver International Foundation Programmes, Pre-Masters Programmes and the Oxford English Language Level Test (ELLT) for students seeking admission into foreign universities.

He explained that the initiative is designed to address the challenges faced by Nigerian students who wish to study abroad but do not meet direct entry requirements or lack clear guidance on how to proceed.

The centre will offer a nine-month International Foundation Programme for secondary school certificate holders seeking undergraduate admission in courses such as Business, Accounting and Computer Science. It will also run a six-month Pre-Masters Programme for Higher National Diploma holders and graduates with third-class degrees who intend to pursue postgraduate studies.

Mr Ibeji said the programmes provide academic preparation aligned with international standards and serve as recognised alternatives to direct entry into overseas universities.

He added that admission into the programmes involves consultation, submission of academic documents, assessment of English language proficiency and issuance of an offer letter after evaluation.

The centre will also provide academic support services, including tutoring, English language preparation, study-skills training and assistance with university applications.

The Oxford International Abuja Centre, located at Kini Country Guest Inn, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has begun accepting applications.
