The immediate past Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, Bisi Adeyemi, has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the organization over the past three years, describing her tenure as “an awesome period filled with remarkable achievements.”
Speaking during the transition ceremony at the WIMBIZ 24th Annual Conference, Adeyemi reflected on the milestones the organization recorded under her leadership.
“I started three years ago, and it’s been an awesome period. We have achieved a lot. I’m sure you’ve heard about all the things that we’ve accomplished in the last three years,” she said.
Adeyemi, who remains on the Board of Trustees for another year, reaffirmed her commitment as a passionate life member of WIMBIZ. She charged the new chairperson to build upon existing successes and push for greater impact.
“My word to the new chair is to consolidate on what we have achieved and to do even better. I know she’s more than capable of doing that,” she added.
Taking over the mantle of leadership, the new Chairperson of the WIMBIZ Board of Trustees, Ebisan Akisanya, said she felt deeply honored and humbled to assume the role, noting that WIMBIZ’s 25-year journey has been marked by significant impact and transformation.
“It is an honor to take on this responsibility. WIMBIZ has been in existence for 25 years and has made tremendous impact. It’s a deep sense of responsibility to continue that legacy,” she stated.
Speaking on her vision for the next phase, Akisanya emphasized continuity, deeper impact, and wider reach for women’s advancement across Nigeria, Africa, and the global stage.
“We are going to deepen our impact and reach. We want to continue to be a defining voice for women, not just in Nigeria but across Africa and the world. We aim to remain central in all conversations that affect women, ensuring our influence is felt and our reach is wide,” she noted.
On women’s representation in leadership, governance, and business, Akisanya admitted that while progress has been made, much remains to be done.
“No, we are not there yet. There is still a lot more work to be done. That is why WIMBIZ exists to drive collaboration, broaden partnerships, and open new opportunities for women. There’s always room for growth,” she said.
Addressing the organization’s international outlook, Akisanya explained that the focus would remain on the depth of WIMBIZ’s impact rather than geographic expansion.
“The immediate past chair was fantastic. We truly enjoyed her leadership and look forward to continuing to work together as a dynamic and purposeful board,” Akisanya said, while also appreciating the media for its consistent support of WIMBIZ’s mission.
As the leadership baton changes hands, WIMBIZ continues to stand tall as one of Nigeria’s leading voices championing women’s empowerment, leadership, and inclusion across sectors.
