Senator Jide lpinsagba, representing Ondo North Senatorial District, in Ondo state, has provided free eye surgeries, glasses and drugs to over 2500 persons with eye defects in his constituents.

The free medical outreach, the the Senator, covered Opthalmological services, eye surgeries, reading glasses and treatment at the General Hospital, Owo in Owo local government area of the State.

 Ipinsagba,who was represented by his legislative Aide, Hon. Olusola Aladetimehin emphasised that the health of the people of Ondo North Senatorial District became imperative in view of the economic situation which deprived many people assess to medical care.

Senator Ipinsagba promised to bring more dividends of democracy to the people in the Senatorial District.

The eye treatment and surgical operations that were carried out include cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Other conditions ranged from refractive errors such as myopia and astigmatism to infections like conjunctivitis also known as pink eye, and structural issues like amblyopia called lazy eye and strabismus, crossed eyes were also handled

The coordinator of conclusion Eyecare limited, Dr Umar Hammed said Owo General Hospital used as the consulting centre for the Opthalmological services was to cater for Cataracts surgery and other minor elements

“This place is a refraction centre, I mean the consulting area and that is our theatre, we are doing cataracts surgery there.” He said

“We are still counting and we are targeting over two hundred cataracts surgery before the programme will be over.

“We also have enough glasses on ground to be given to our patients and thousands of it are on the ground.” It is a reading and sight glasses, we have some plus, we have some minus.

The opticians also declared that his team distributed series of drugs for conjunctivitis, glaucoma and other eyes drops to patients

Dr Hammed, encouraged the patients especially those who underwent surgery to use their medications as prescribed.

On his part, Dr Hammed described the eyes as the mirror and governor of the body while another medical expert, Dr Fidelis Origbapo, advised Nigerians to visit optometrist around them for regular checkups

Some of the beneficiaries, Mr Lamidi Ogunleye, Mrs Omolola Adedugba, Fadahunsi Helle appreciated Senator Ipinsagba for rekindling their visions adding that the gesture has transformed their lives.

They described Senator lpinsagba as their divine and political benefactor, the beneficiaries pledged continual loyalty and supports towards the Senator’s future ambitions
