I’ll never water myself down for anyone – Mariam Timmer of RHOLAGOS

As Showmax premiered The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa on Friday, 28 November 2025, Lagos socialite and reality television personality Mariam Timmer says viewers should expect her signature bold energy on the new pan-African edition.

Timmer, one of the stars representing Nigeria on the inaugural season, said she did not feel pressured to tone down her personality while filming. According to her, she remained fully authentic despite meeting new castmates from different Housewives franchises across the continent.

“Everyone knows I’m expressive and unfiltered, and one thing I’ll never do is water myself down for anyone,” she said, adding that she chose to show up as her complete self while remaining aware of the dynamics among the diverse group. Timmer noted that some cast members were initially cautious around her but eventually warmed up when they discovered she was “easy to talk to.”

The Lagos-based entrepreneur described her inclusion in the first edition of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa as a major career milestone, likening it to the excitement of being part of the debut season of The Real Housewives of Lagos. She said being selected reinforces her belief that authenticity and hard work continue to open doors for her in the reality-TV landscape.

Timmer stated that the new series will showcase the personal and professional growth she has undergone since joining the Housewives franchise. She explained that viewers will see a more refined, intentional version of herself—one she believes “sets the tone” in any environment.

“My consistency, work ethic and presence speak louder than ever,” she said. “I’m not the same woman you met in Season 1 of RHOLagos.”

Connections and Drama on Set

The Lagos housewife revealed that she formed strong connections with some of the other participants, particularly Durban’s Annie Mthembu and Abuja’s Princess Jecoco, describing the friendships as genuine and supportive beyond the cameras.

Responding to earlier comments from Mthembu that she and Johannesburg’s Christall Kay were tied for the most dramatic castmates this season, Timmer agreed with the assessment, saying she delivered entertainment while remaining authentic and “full of heart.”

Representing Lagos and Nigerian Culture

Timmer emphasized that she was proud to represent Lagos and Nigeria throughout the trip to Brazil, where the season was filmed. She highlighted moments when she shared aspects of her Yoruba heritage with the other women, noting their curiosity and appreciation.

True to her established persona, she said her fashion choices were deliberate, with every outfit sourced from Nigerian designers as a way to spotlight the country’s creative industry on a continental platform.

What Viewers Should Expect

With cast members drawn from Lagos, Abuja, Johannesburg, Durban and Nairobi, the series brings together some of Africa’s biggest Housewives personalities. Timmer said viewers should expect an engaging mix of fashion, culture, interpersonal tensions and light-hearted moments.

“I bring authenticity, grace, fashion, fun, laughter and drama,” she said. “Expect bold energy and bold moments—you won’t be able to take your eyes off me.”

The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa will stream exclusively on Showmax from November 28.
