Anyone encountering Kadoon (real name Kadoon Karen Bem Bula) on TikTok for the first time will find it hard to scroll past her page. There’s an intriguing aura about the Benue-born singer—something in her poise and energy—that instantly draws you in.
At just 18, the Trap Records Entertainment artist is already carving out a path to greatness. Her new single, “Go Low,” has taken social media by storm, inspiring thousands of TikTok videos and online mentions that firmly place her in Afrobeats’ new-school spotlight and ongoing industry conversations.
Signed under the mentorship of label owner Akem Terver (Boss Equation), Kadoon has rapidly emerged as one of the most promising young female voices in Nigerian music today. The uniqueness in her voice stands her apart from her peers and she is using that voice as one of her major strengths in redefining what good music should be about. She’s the sound of the new generation – confident, expressive, and unafraid to experiment. Her rise is a reflection of how much space Afrobeats now gives to talented young women shaping the culture on their own terms.
“Music has always been my way of saying the things I can’t explain,” she says. “I love that people can dance to my songs but still feel something real inside them. I just love to make happy songs and I feel so blessed being able to do that effortlessly”
Kadoon’s journey into music has been such an interesting one. She started writing short hooks while in secondary school, recording rough demos on her phone with friends cheering her on and later on, she got spotted by Trap Records and the rest is history. “She had that spark you can’t teach,” recalls Boss Equation. “The first time I heard her voice, I knew she had the tone and spirit to connect with this generation.”
Produced by Young Smith, her debut single “Go Low” captures a bright, playful Afrobeats jam built on crisp drums, glittering synths and catchy melodies. The song’s carefree rhythm and relatable lyrics have made it a hit among young listeners. Since its release, the single has dominated TikTok challenges and playlists across Nigeria and beyond. Influencers and dancers have embraced the #GoLowChallenge, with clips amassing thousands of views in days. One Lagos-based DJ compared her presence to that of early Ayra Starr: “She’s got the charm, the vocals, and the playfulness that makes people pay attention whenever she sings.”
While the comparisons to top female artists flatter her, Kadoon is determined to forge her own path. “I really love and admire Ayra Starr, Tiwa Savage, Tems and all the amazing women doing big things right now,” she says “But I just want to be Kadoon, to communicate with the world through music.”
Behind the growing buzz is a coordinated effort between Trap Records Entertainment, who are managing her roll-out. According to Oluseyi Akinrinmade, Gusto Entertainment’s project manager, the team is certain she’s a star on the rise. “Kadoon is one artist who’s definitely ready for the limelight,” he says. “She’s young but focused and that’s what I like about her. I am very sure she’ll break more barriers soon.”
The “Go Low” video, set to premiere on Trace TV through an exclusive partnership with the channel, is expected to expand her audience even further. Directed by Nedy Pictures, the visuals promise colour, youth, and the contagious energy that defines her brand.
Beyond the excitement around her debut, “Go Low” represents a shift in Afrobeats. The genre’s new generation of female artists is not waiting for invitations – they’re creating the vibe and setting the tone. Kadoon’s sound – a mix of sweet vocals, rhythmic confidence, and relatable storytelling – proves that the culture continues to evolve through youthful voices who understand both tradition and TikTok.
What makes Kadoon remarkable is not just her voice, but her self-assurance at such a young age. Her fashion sense – a mix of street style, soft glam with some Naija touch – mirrors her musical identity: rooted, vibrant, and unapologetically modern.
With “Go Low” making waves online, a Trace TV premiere on the way, and heavy support from Trap Records and Gusto Entertainment, Kadoon’s moment has clearly begun. Her sound might be new, but her confidence is timeless – and her debut by every indication, proves Afrobeats has just found its next biggest star.
