BENIN CITY — A non-governmental organisation based in Edo State, the House of Isaac Ifijen Initiative (HIII), has organised a quiz and scholarship programme for primary school pupils, with participating schools and students receiving various awards.
In a statement on Sunday, the Project Manager of HIII, Ehijie O. Francis, said the foundation’s team was led by its founder, Comrade Isaac Ifijen, who has an extensive record of involvement in humanitarian projects spanning education, charity outreaches, community service, and egalitarian policy advocacy.
Four primary schools participated in the event, held at St. James Grammar School, where pupils were tested in Mathematics, English Language, and Current Affairs.
Francis quoted Ifijen as saying the project was inspired by his desire to nurture children’s interest in learning, broaden their exposure beyond the classroom, and assess the academic performance of learners in Owan East.
“The presence of these learners here is a positive note that we—parents, teachers, and the Edo State Government—are committed to their development. While we have begun on this good note, our resolve is to build on this standard in the future,” Ifijen said.
He expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Ebanehita Omonzane, alongside directors and secretaries who facilitated the approval and smooth execution of the programme.
Prizes, including financial rewards and notebooks, were presented to participating pupils and winners.
Francis added that while the foundation remains committed to supporting humanitarian projects, it also acknowledges the efforts of the Edo State Government through its ongoing and affiliated educational initiatives.
