In a time marked by soaring youth unemployment, moral disorientation, rising insecurity, and weakening civic participation, Nigeria, just like most African nations, stands at a critical crossroads. With the majority of the continent’s population under the age of 35, the potential to harness a powerful demographic dividend is undeniable. Yet, without deliberate and strategic action, this potential could turn into a demographic challenge, trapping millions of young people in persistent cycles of poverty, frustration, and disillusionment.
It was within this urgent context that the HOPEAGE Conference 2025, themed “Cultivating Purpose-Driven Collaboration, Empowering Focus, Enhancing Professional Skills, and Encouraging Entrepreneurship for the 21st Century”, emerged as a bold and transformative platform. Designed specifically for youth between the ages of 18 and 40, the three-day event took place from Thursday, August 7th, to Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at the Kingdom Recovery Conference Center, Godland Prayer Camp (Recovery Dome) in Lagos, Nigeria, and was streamed globally through the HOPEAGE Hybrid Platform. The conference brought together around 400 participants, both in person and online, representing a wide range of educational backgrounds—from high school students to doctoral scholars—and achieving a near-equal gender balance of 52% female and 48% male.
HOPEAGE 2025 was not merely a learning event; it was a grassroots movement dedicated to ethical reorientation, leadership excellence, and entrepreneurial advancement. Its mission was to equip young people with the values, skills, and visionary outlook necessary to shape a prosperous and inclusive future. By fostering purposeful collaboration and practical empowerment, the conference inspired participants to take ownership of their personal growth and community development, preparing them to become leaders who can build resilient societies grounded in integrity, innovation, and self-reliance.
At its heart, the conference affirmed the conviction that sustainable development begins at the grassroots level—by instilling moral discipline, practical expertise, and forward-looking leadership in young people. By bridging the urgent challenges of today with the opportunities of tomorrow, the HOPEAGE Conference 2025 sparked a renewed sense of purpose, urgency, and responsibility among the youth to drive transformative changes and actively shape a brighter, more equitable future.
Visionary Leadership and Government Support
Organized under the visionary leadership of Saint Edmund Ikejuno Anyahmiwe of the Kingdom Recovery Church, the conference embodied a strong commitment to building enduring bridges to the future through values-based education and self-reliance. The HOPEAGE Conference was officially endorsed by the Lagos State Ministry of Youth Development, with Mrs. Adewuyi Folashade representing the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Oke-Osan. This endorsement reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to supporting youth empowerment initiatives in Lagos State and beyond, aligned closely with the HOPEAGE Conference vision. The active involvement of the Ministry highlighted a successful partnership among faith-based organizations, government agencies, academia, and civil society, collectively championing youth empowerment and moral renewal.
Strategic Partnerships Amplifying Impact
The Hopeage Conference 2025, an initiative of Kingdom Recovery Church, was organized in strategic partnership with the Mannixs Empowerment Foundation (MEFOUNDATION) and the International Strategic Alliance for Academic Research and Professional Development Worldwide. This alliance included esteemed institutions such as the American University of Technology (USA), Niger Delta University (NDU), and the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Africa (GIAA). Together, these partners created a dynamic platform for resource sharing and knowledge exchange, delivering an integrated program that combined academic rigor, practical skills, and ethical leadership principles. Leveraging this strategic collaboration, the conference featured distinguished speakers from the USA, Asia, Panama, Sweden, and Nigeria.

In a complementary session, Prof. Agih also led a powerful workshop titled Discovering Purpose—Reclaiming Identity and Vision, which helped youth align their actions with their inner calling. This session encouraged self-awareness and guided participants to develop personal mission statements as a compass for navigating future challenges, promoting self-reliance and critical thinking.
Dr. Supriya Sharma expanded the conversation by exploring creative industries as viable and profitable career pathways, broadening participants’ horizons beyond traditional employment models. Meanwhile, Prof. Fred O. Asiegbu showcased the importance of blending academic excellence with practical, market-ready skills through a dynamic startup demonstration. Together, these sessions underscored the conference’s core message: self-reliance and success are attainable through deliberate skill acquisition, purposeful vision, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Conclusion: A Call to Action for a Prosperous Future
The HOPEAGE Conference 2025 powerfully affirmed that equipping young leaders with ethical values, practical skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit is vital for building resilient communities and a thriving nation. Prof. Mannixs Paul stressed that the responsibility of building a sustainable future cannot rest solely on the government. Instead, he called upon religious organizations, non-profits, and academic institutions to actively collaborate and create a synergistic culture of ethical and cultural reorientation at the grassroots level, starting with the youth, who are the true architects of tomorrow.
He emphasized the urgent need for young people to become deeply involved in the developmental process through inclusive participation in public affairs, proactive personal growth, and committed entrepreneurship. This shared responsibility among civil society stakeholders and youth is essential to nurturing a generation that is not only prepared but also determined to drive positive change. The HOPEAGE Conference closes with a hopeful vision: as youth rise, equipped with these foundations and a strong sense of urgency to engage, they will become unstoppable agents of transformation, catalyzing progress locally, nationally, and globally.
