Jos – Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Saturday, visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Mushere and Tangor communities of the Bokkos Local Government Area, following a wave of violent terrorist attacks that claimed lives and displaced hundreds.

The Governor, moved by the plight of the victims, expressed heartfelt sympathy and assured affected families of his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare, safety, and recovery, and emphasized that no distressed household would be abandoned.

“Our hearts are with you,” Governor Mutfwang said while addressing the IDPs in Mushere. “This land must not fall. We will stand with you, support you, and ensure Mushere stands strong and unshaken.”

The Governor, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere acknowledged the strategic importance of Mushere, hailing its resilience amid repeated attacks.

He commended the youths for their cooperation with security forces and urged them to resist destructive vices such as drug abuse and alcoholism. “You are our treasure. This is the time to rise in unity,” the Governor stated.

The Governor ordered a comprehensive needs assessment to guide the immediate distribution of relief materials to the most vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

At Tangor, Governor Mutfwang extended condolences to the Makai Tangor and grieving families, reaffirming that no part of Plateau State would be forsaken under his leadership, and vowed to strengthen inter-community collaboration, accelerate infrastructure projects, and boost rural security.

“The sorrow of Tangor is the sorrow of Plateau,” he said. “We are taking steps to improve security mobility, fix access roads, and reinforce deployments to ensure safety and stability.”

During the visit, the District Head of Horop, Miskaham Jonah Dawum, urged the Governor to establish permanent security bases in vulnerable areas and recommended forming a Joint Taskforce between Plateau and Nasarawa States to tackle cross-border threats.

Governor Mutfwang’s visit underlines his administration’s resolve to confront insecurity head-on, rebuild trust, and restore normalcy to affected communities.
