HACEY, in partnership with EMpower – The Emerging Markets Foundation, has recently completed a vocational skills training program that truly embodies support and empowerment for adolescent girls in the Lagos Mainland Local Government Area (LGA) and Obafemi owode LGA in Ogun.

This initiative is part of HACEY’s PAVE project, dedicated to amplifying the voices of young girls and providing them with the skills they need to achieve economic independence.

HACEY noted that the trainings given to the girls was not just an educational experience, stressing it was an opportunity for these young girls to engage in hands-on learning across various trades, such as Wig making, baking, manicuring, and pedicure services.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by girls in underserved communities, the program was designed to give them the knowledge and tools they need for a brighter, more sustainable future.
Commenting, Olubukola Olumuyiwa, PAVE Program Coordinator, expressed the significance of this initiative, stating, ‘’We believe that investing in these girls is an investment in the community as a whole, fostering hope and resilience for generations to come.’’

She continued: “We believe in empowering these young girls to become confident and economically independent. Through this training, we aim to provide them with skills that will open new opportunities in their lives.”

Similarly, Adebimpe Adeboye, one of the training facilitators, highlighted the impact of the program, stating, “It has been inspiring to witness these girls embrace their potential. The skills they have acquired will not only benefit them but also their families and communities.”

Also speaking in the same vein, Abioye Rodiah, one of the beneficiaries of the training, recounted:

“Participating in this training has been a life-changing experience for me. I’ve learned valuable skills that not only boost my confidence but also give me the opportunity to support myself and my family. I am truly grateful for the PAVE project and the chance to turn my passions into a career.”

HACEY and EMpower are committed to continuing their efforts to support young girls in underserved areas, ensuring they have access to the resources and training they need to thrive.
