The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has urged Muslims in the State to show love, tolerance, peace, unity, and sense of sacrifice to one another, saying that these are the only virtues that can move the State forward.
Elemide, in a goodwill message to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, noted that the present socio-economic challenges in the country would ultimately abate through the collective sacrifice and commitment by all Nigerians.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Kunle Idowu, Elemide enjoined Muslims to seize the auspicious moment to pray for the country, particularly for the revival of the nation’s economy .
“I want to seize this opportunity to felicitate our Muslim brothers and sisters across the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
“As we celebrate, let us also reflect on and imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, charity, love, service, peace, unity, humility and submission to the command of Allah that this occasion represents.
“Let us remember to be our brother’s keepers and spare a thought for our neighbours to ensure that no one is left behind as we navigate through the difficult times. It is only by working together in love and commitment to nationhood that we can overcome the present challenges and build a Nigeria of our dreams.
“As a government, we remain committed to building an egalitarian Ogun State, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and achieve his or her dreams, irrespective of political, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
“I cannot forget our brothers who are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia right now performing the Hajj rites. We pray that Allah sees them through and grant them journey mercies back home after the pilgrimage”.
