…Pledges unity, better representation as ward leaders pass vote of confidence in Tinubu, Oborevwori

BOMADI — Hon. Kenneth Oboro Preyor, the lawmaker representing Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his home base, Ward 2, Kpakiama, Bomadi Local Government Area.

The declaration took place over the weekend at the popular Osibiri Hall in Kpakiama, where both new and longstanding APC members gathered in large numbers to witness the occasion.

APC Ward 2 Chairman, Mr. Peres Agbai, described the event as historic and urged party members to unite in pursuit of democratic dividends for the community.

“This is a day of celebration. Our leader, Hon. K.O. Preyor, is here to formally join the APC. I urge us all to speak with one voice and work together for the benefit of our ward,” Agbai said.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Preyor recounted his political journey, noting that he was first elected to the State Assembly in 2011 under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), with the “broom” as its symbol. He said his return to a broom-logo party was not just political, but spiritual.

“Today’s gathering is divine. We used to assemble here as PDP members, and before then under the ACN. After ten years in the opposition within the state, and considering the national PDP crisis, our leader, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, received a divine directive to join the APC,” he said.

Preyor said the decision followed several internal meetings and personal convictions, leading to the unanimous defection of the PDP structure in the ward to the APC.

He emphasized unity, assuring existing APC members that the new entrants were not there to wrest control but to collaborate for progress.

“To my brothers and sisters already in the APC, we’ve come to work with you, not to take over. Together, we will bring development from both state and national levels,” he said.

He also assured his constituents of quality representation and tangible projects.

Highlighting the event was the passage of a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. The motion was moved by the party’s local government legal adviser, Barr. Yereke Ayafou, seconded by former councillor Hon. Timipamowei Ozioro, and adopted unanimously by the ward leadership.
